On the 6th of July 2019, we, the Babondo of United kingdom celebrated the 59th Independence of the Democratic Republic of Congo, our country of origin. The ceremonies took place at Dukinfield Town Hall, Tameside, United Kingdom.
We were pleased of having as honour guest, The Worshipful, The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Leigh Drennan.
We were inspired by the words of the Mayor, which aimed at real integration into the British community and the consolidation of peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Mayor finally offered us the opportunity to visit his office and gave us a brief presentation of the functioning of the British government.
As for Reverend Pastor Clay Luamba, who was the main preacher of the ceremony, he taught us how to participate in the development of our community here in the United Kingdom.
Since that day, our community has built a wonderful relationship with the Council of Tameside.
